The Winachi Tribe Collaborates with Jamaica Reggae Legend I KONG to Release New Single

What would it be like if we mixed British Funk-Rock with Reggae Music? It’s hard to say - but we are thrilled and honored to present such a tasty ‘combo’ for you with the collaboration of the UK’s Winachi Tribe and Jamaican Reggae legend I KONG on their mind blowing new track entitled PARASITES PARADISE.

British funk-rock collective, The Winachi Tribe, are about to make it big - but not just in the UK, They have recorded tracks in the US with world-class producers including Danny Saber and John X. They finished their second US tour with a prestigious gig with The Charlatans in Los Angeles. Plus they’re kicking-off this year’s British Festival Season headlining the Warrington Festival next week on Sunday May 5th, with Black Grape headlining the Saturday and they warm up on the 4th with Huey Morgan from Fun Lovin Criminals at the NYC block party in Norwich. The Winachi Tribe became well known worldwide for their amazing live shows and music videos that featured notorious bad-boy actors like Keith Allen (Trainspotting, The Others) and Tommy Flanagan(Gladiator, Braveheart). Still, PARASITES PARADISE takes The Winachi Tribe to a whole new international level.

The backstory of I-KONG is too vast and varied to present in a single news release, but suffice to say, this unique artist is the most talked about Reggae performer in China, right now. I KONG was introduced to reggae music by his uncle Leslie Kong, one the one of most influential Producers in Kingston, when he was a small boy. Uncle Leslie had worked with the likes of Jimmy Cliff and Bob Marley and I KONG would go on to be equally prolific. Since 1979 he has released 6 albums and continues to produce popular tracks, on a global stage.

Handshake Records is thrilled to be big instrumental in this groundbreaking collaboration between Winachi and I KONG. And let’s face it, the mixture of British funk-rock with Reggae, released on a Chinese Indie Label is bound to get everybody talking. Plus the interest and excitement in this project extends even beyond that. Inder Goldfinger, former percussionist with Ian Brown, contributes his stunning performance on this track, and talented graphic artist Ciora Silviu from Romania created the artwork for this single.
